Success Stories

Tania

Tania (photo at right) worked closely with our Manager of Accounting Services using MYOB in Finance and Administration at the Gardens.

Tania secured permanent employment within the Hunter Region and is one of a number of our younger volunteers who have used the training and experience gained as a volunteer at the Botanic Gardens to enter or re-enter the workforce.

Ally

Ally joined the Kookaburra Café as a volunteer in 2017 through the ‘work for the dole’ program.  She learned new café skills as a Barrista and was trained in customer service, food handling and safety.
Through this experience Ally gained employment in her hometown of Raymond Terrace in a local café.  Her ability to work as a member of a team and her and organising and people management skills led to her appointment as the Manager of the Café.  A great success story from the Gardens.

Jaime

Jaime volunteered at the Kookaburra Café as a volunteer at the Gardens in 2018.  Through her café experience, she obtained a position in customer service at the Raymond Terrace Woolworths.  Jaime directly attributes her work experience at the Gardens to her gaining part - time employment. This has changed her life.

Grounds Maintenance Volunteer

One of our younger grounds maintenance volunteers successfully obtained employment in greens maintenance at a local Bowling Club thanks to the experience and skills gained at the Botanic Gardens.
