Gardens Sculpture Prize 2010

Sculpture is an integral part of the Gardens, and a range of sculptures have been placed around the site to enhance the botanical displays. In May 2010, the Gardens will become the focus of a new sculptural event with the inauguration of the Gardens Sculpture Prize.

Entries will be on display from Sunday 9 May until Sunday 20 June 2010. The Exhibition will be opened and prize winners announced on Sunday 9th May 2010 at 1.00pm.

The Exhibition is to be in two sections:

1. An outdoor exhibition featuring sculpture placed on the Eucalyptus Lawn and adjacent to the Visitors Centre. The winner will receive $1,000. This prize is sponsored by Port Stephens Shire Council. There will be a Second Prize of $300, and a $100 encouragement award for first time exhibitors.
2. An indoor exhibition for smaller works, with sculpture displayed within the Visitors Centre. Winner will receive $500, sponsored by Port Stephens Shire Council. There will be a Second Prize of $200.

The exhibition is not acquisitive, and all sculptures will be for sale.

The Gardens Sculpture Prize is a Community Partnership event sponsored by Port Stephens Council as part of the Council's Cultural Projects Fund, 2009-10.

Sculptors wishing to enter the Gardens Sculpture Prize 2010 should contact the Gardens as soon as possible to obtain an entry form. The closing date for receipt of the entry acceptance is Friday 26 February 2010.
